I keep seeing so many posts about revision rhinoplasty β way more than any other procedure. Why is the nose so prone to needing revisions? Trying to understand before I commit to anything! π
The nose is honestly one of the hardest procedures to get right. Unlike other facial surgeries, the nose has to balance aesthetics AND function AND it continues to change as scar tissue forms and cartilage shifts over time. What looks great at 3 months can look completely different at 1-2 years. Add in the fact that every surgeon has a different style, and if the first result doesn't suit your face, revision becomes almost inevitable. It's not always about a 'botched' job β sometimes it's just the nature of how the nose heals.

Revisions cost more because they're genuinely harder to perform. The surgeon has to work through existing scar tissue, which makes everything less predictable and more time-consuming. If implants or cartilage were used in the first surgery, those need to be carefully assessed or removed. Often additional cartilage grafts are needed, which adds complexity. Basically β a first-time rhinoplasty is working with a clean canvas. A revision is like editing someone else's work without being able to fully undo what was done before. π
