After doing a lot of research before my procedure, I compiled a list of questions that I wish I had known to ask earlier. Sharing here in case it helps someone. **Before booking:** - How many times have you performed this specific procedure this month? - Can I see before/after photos of patients with a similar starting point to mine? - Who will be in the OR with you during my procedure? - What is your policy if I am unhappy with the result? **About safety:** - Is there an anesthesiologist (not just a nurse anesthetist) present? - Does the OR have CCTV? Can I confirm this before surgery? - What is your emergency protocol if something goes wrong? - Where is the nearest hospital and what is your transfer procedure? **About recovery:** - What are the warning signs I should watch for post-op? - When can I fly home? (Critical for medical tourists) - How many follow-up appointments are included? - What happens if I develop a complication after I return home? The surgeons who gave me the best answers were also the ones I felt most comfortable with. The ones who seemed annoyed by the questions were immediate red flags.
